It’s that time of the year again! Coachella is here. Coachella is one of the biggest music festivals of the year. It kicks off festival season in the best way. While I still go primarily for the music, Coachella -for better or worse- has become so much more than that. It has become a place for fashion, for celebrity sitings, for exclusive parties and, of course, for the music. Let me know if you want me to do a full post on the actual festival, the artists, the different stages and what there is to do on the Polo Fields. But for now, let’s talk about fashion.
What Is Coachella Fashion?
Festival dressing is definitely a different type of style than your everyday look. It typically is a bit more bohemian and hippie inspired than your typical everyday style, but I also think it’s fun to do things that aren’t just that. What you typically can expect from Coachella style is lots of floral flow-y dresses, denim jackets, crop tops, etc. Similar to Fashion Week, Coachella street style has become huge. While there may not be as many street style photographers (especially now due to the strict Polo Ground guidelines), there are still people who make a statement and all of the biggest magazines regardless.
Styling Coachella Outfit Icons
Some of my favorite people to look to for Coachella style dressing are Kaia Gerber, who is Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kate Bosworth, who was my biggest girl crush for the longest time because of the movie Blush Crush, and Kendall Jenner. These three girls deserve every second of the festival style recognition that they get. Although their outfits have been thought out weeks before with stylists, they come across so effortless and they wear their looks with such confidence. They are the epitome of cool.
What To Wear To Coachella
Still don’t have any idea of what to wear? I’ve put together a few Coachella essentials I’ll be bringing with me this year that you may want to. Just rush order it and you’ll have it in time to bring with you!
The Crop Top
As I mentioned above, crop tops are such a great staple item for Coachella. For one, they are just really cute but secondly, they are really practical. These music festivals (with the exception of Outside Lands) are so hot, that the less fabric you are wearing is sometimes the better. Being able to wear a crop top is an easy way to be comfortable and also stay cool.
The Kimono
A kimono / duster is a great layering piece when dressing for a festival. Coachella in particular gets cold and windy at night so having an extra layer is nice, plus there are so many cool options. A kimono is a great investment and worth spending a little extra money on in my opinion because you can re-wear it many times after and for future years of music festivals.
The Festival Dress
This dress is also just an amazing investment for life. I love this brand right now!
Flow-y dresses will be your best friend. They are easy. They are quick. They are a complete look. They are comfortable. They are so many things in one and who doesn’t love to feel cute and have convenience?! There are so many good, different options in this category and you can always use more dresses in your wardrobe (or I can at least)!
The Denim Jacket
A denim jacket is always a staple item but I think this year more than ever you will be seeing people wearing them, and you will be wanting to wear one yourself.
